Google presents Gemini for business as one universal agent that works across a company's email, documents, code, data and business apps, on web, desktop and mobile, with "no platform to stand up and no agent to assemble"1.

Best for: Companies on Google Cloud or Workspace that want one agent across email, documents, code and data, running under each person’s permissions.

Not the right fit for: Buyers that need a published price, or that want the AI to hold operational records itself.

How it is governed

Google states that Gemini runs under each person's existing permissions, approved by the company's security team, and leaves a complete audit trail. It indexes selected sources while keeping data where it lives, with access following each user's existing permissions. Administrators can set a budget cap per project, so the agent pauses instead of overspending, and costs are tracked to each team1.

Google describes Gemini models today, with additional models coming, chosen by automated routing under one set of permissions and one bill1. Long-running jobs run on their own secure machine in Google Cloud.

Published evidence

The product page describes capabilities and controls; it names no customer results for an organisation of this size.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Permission model and audit trail are stated plainly on the product page.
  • Budget caps per project: the agent pauses instead of overspending, and costs are tracked to teams.
  • Leaves data in its source systems rather than copying it into a new store.

Limits

  • Pricing is not shown on the product page.
  • Google Gemini models today, with other models described as coming.
  • The agent works across existing systems; it does not replace them.

Choose another option if: Your company runs on Microsoft 365, or you want to own the platform and the data store rather than rent an agent layer.

Pricing

Not shown on the product page; quoted by Google Cloud.

A 30-day trial of the Enterprise Plus edition is offered at no cost1.

Questions for Google Cloud

  • What exactly does the audit trail record for an agent action, and can it be exported to our security tools?
  • Which actions can require human approval, beyond budget caps?
  • What does the edition we need cost for our headcount?
