The clearest published permission and audit model among the cross-system platforms. A governed layer on top of the current estate, not a replacement for it.

Glean describes itself as the enterprise AI platform that puts company context to work, combining search, a personal assistant and agents built in natural language1.
Best for: Companies with knowledge spread across many systems that want search, an assistant and agents that respect each system’s permissions.
Not the right fit for: Companies that want the AI to hold and run the operational records, or that need published prices.
How Glean governs AI
Glean's security page is specific. It commits to enforcing source-system permissions on every read and write, and says agents should not automatically reach everything a user can access. Every control point is logged to an end-to-end audit trail as it happens, and events can be streamed into a security information and event management system2. Its Glean Protect feature is described as safeguarding sensitive content, keeping agents aligned and detecting unusual activity1.
The page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, TX-RAMP Level 2 and GDPR among its security and compliance credentials2. One customer story on the page credits the ability to host Glean within the customer's own cloud tenant; the general deployment options are not set out.
Glean routes each task to the right model across more than 40 open and frontier models1.
Published evidence
The product overview names no customers with measured results; the security page includes a customer story without figures12.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- Permission enforcement is explicit: source-system permissions apply on every read and write.
- Always-on auditing, with events streamed into the customer’s security tools.
- A broad certification list, including ISO 42001 for AI management.
- Chooses among 40+ open and frontier models per task.
Limits
- Pricing is not published; a demo is the only route.
- It sits on top of existing systems rather than replacing any, so the subscription count does not fall.
- The pages we read do not name customers with measured results.
Choose another option if: You want to consolidate tools and run work on one platform you own, rather than add a governed layer across the current ones.
