Agentforce is the agent layer of the Salesforce platform, used for customer-facing and employee-facing work on Salesforce records1.

Best for: Companies that run customer operations on Salesforce and want agents governed by the platform’s existing permissions.

Not the right fit for: Companies whose operations are not centred on Salesforce, or that want flat, simple pricing.

How it handles data

Salesforce's trust page describes retrieval that grounds prompts in business data while keeping permissions and data access controls in place; masking that replaces personal or proprietary data with tokens before a prompt reaches a model; real-time screening of output for toxic content; and a zero-retention policy under which prompts and responses are not stored or used to train third-party models. It states that the data Salesforce manages belongs to the customer2.

How it is priced

Customer-facing agents can be paid at $2 per conversation. Flex Credits cost $500 per 100,000, with 20 credits per standard action and 30 per voice action. Per-user add-ons for Sales, Service and Field Service cost $125 a month and give unmetered employee use; Max Edition starts at $550 per user a month. Credits can be pre-purchased, committed to or paid as used, and unused credits do not roll over1.

Published evidence

The pages we read set out controls and prices without named customer results.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Data masking and output screening are described in detail.
  • Salesforce states that customer data belongs to the customer.
  • Several published pricing models, including unmetered per-user add-ons.

Limits

  • The trust page we read does not describe agent audit trails or approval rules.
  • Pricing combines several licences and meters; unused credits do not roll over.
  • Agents centre on the CRM; other records stay elsewhere.

Choose another option if: Your operations span far beyond the CRM, or you need a single, predictable cost for the platform.

Pricing

Published: $2 per conversation; Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000; add-ons at $125 per user a month; Max Edition from $550 per user a month.

Questions for Salesforce or a partner

  • Where are agent actions recorded, and can compliance staff review them by record?
  • How do we require approval for specific agent actions?
  • Which pricing model suits our volume, and what is the monthly cost at that volume?
